Scrap what my RS2000 or the Cossie once I bought it.

The RS2000 is the cleanest Shell I've seen in years and has been seam welded all over.

Question

All,

Might sound daft but I have an RS2000 (MK2) and I want a Cossie Turbo engine for it.

I know somone that is selling a H reg two wheel drive Cossie that he said he'd accept £3500 for reluctantly. Quite a tidy car really, but would feel terrible buying the car and stripping it down for parts. I know I could sale most of the stuff I didn't want.

I had a offer for my RS a few years ago, and was selling it until I reaslised the guy wanted it to sell all the parts!! Cars worth more in bits.

Just been and had a look at the RS2000 in the garage, and can't wait to finish it. Had the car for 13 years now (11 years in garage being restored ) Last tax disk (still in window) September 1990. OMG!!!!

What would you do ? Cheers Phill C

AstraBoy,

It's a 1976 (p reg) Pre Custom (Custom) if that make sense. With all the mod cons. Heater, Fishnet seats, etc.

I have a five link kits, etc, etc, etc Roller top mounts, etc, etc, spax adjustables, etc, etc. Janspeed.

I have two bonnets, three nose cones and so on....

Colour is diamond white, only bad thing about it really. NO RUST, apart from the rear wheel arches that have been replaced.

I even managed to get new wings off Ford for £55 each. Not that it needed them, but want to do it right.

I just wouldn't like someone to do this to my car. Still should make loads of money selling off the spare Cossie bit.

Cheers Phill C.

PS When finished I'll let you have a look / go in it.

Go for it mate...strip the cossie and break it
don't feel guilty cause you never really owned and drove the car!
A mk2 rs2k cossie is one car i wanna have in the future.I've been inspired by dingy(white 2k also mentally modded, white MO wheels) and shall do eventually!
And as you say you can break the rest of the car for plenty money!
If you have suspension then i'll be v interested!

Sounds sweet. Go for it..

Having said that a nice 2-door Mk1 Escort would perhaps be sweeter.

Have to agree - break the Cossie and build the MK2 RS Ford should have built. I owned a Signal Orange Mk2 RS2000 custom for 8 years and spent a fortune tuning the Pinto - oh for a cheap cossie engine in the mid eighties. Have to say, the old RS is the only other car I've been in that seems to have the same driving experience as my Impreza (STi3) - good feedback, good power to weight - well balanced and so sharp on the steering. I still have a Fast Ford mag from May 97 with 3 converted Mk2's, all with about 400bhp - Java green car looked the biz. I'm tempted to do the same conversion, my old RS is available but it's in a sorry state now. Could pick it up for a couple of hundred quid but I'd be better getting a decent shell and starting with that. Let us know what you decide - I'll be following the project with some jealousy - unless you want to flog the MK2 to me cheaply.

DavidBrown,

I wish, a mark one RS2000 hello!!!!

Yes I've got to extend my garage to a double, and the rebuild will start. My mate Steve that can spray (quite rare these days) is going to paint it. I want to do a wild purple or green, but have been talked into the Diamond White, by my RSoC mates.

Lambchop,

Dingy is mad, saw his car about. HELLO.

All, I want a standard interior in leather, no roll cage or stripped out interior. Big ICE though Another mate Steve, can do the wiring loom, as he said it's a piece of ****. Hmm, sure it is but he know what he's doing. Probably have to drag him away from his latest self designed model jet engine

Kevin Groat,

That was my main problem with the Scooby once I got it and had the courage to drive flat out. To much understeer, RS was better.

Had the Pro-drive cambers and SO2 done now, got the tyre pressures sorted and it handles. Slight understeer, but add more power and steer in.

Comfortable with it now, but much different!!

I'll keep you all posted on the project, and when finished will use Her in anger. CK1 watch out boss (Stef only joking)

An RS is for driving, not for listening to the bl**dy stereo! You can do that at home!

Strip it out and get the rollcage!

And don't bother with the leather - a rally car with leather - pah!

Kevin Greeley,

LOL at you mate. I can't have a roll cage and no interior..... what's the point in that. I will have a big ICE system in the car, with leather recaros.

Cheers Phill C
