Me and my mate are getting a workshop...

and are thinking about renting out the ramp and spray booth when we're not using them, so that "Jo public" could come in and work on their own cars...

What do you guys think, would any of you lot go to a place like that?

Any view or thoughts?

Cheers

As has been said Health and Safety, therefore insurance could be a problem. A standard lease would probably frown on this as well, although what the Landlord doesn't know won't worry him!

Howeer health and safety is more of a problem as what would happen if I brought my car in do work on it. I then manage to lower the ramp on top of me squashing myself. Would you be liable and if so would you be insured? Thats what you need to check.

Thumbs down

My first thought is i can see loads of hassle ahead.Letting one or two people you know and trust to use it on a regular basis....yes,but renting it out to Joe Public......hassle if you ask me.

Unhappy

There was a move afoot in the late 70's to have a chain of places where people could bring their cars to work on, hire ramp/spray/other equipment etc, amd do the work themselves.
It fell down on H&S issues.
Bl**dy nanny state.

Problem is disclaimers aren't worth the paper they're written on.

Just imagine all the hassle with nuggets breaking or stealing things....

health and saftey would get you.. but where would it be

I could earn a living with a spray booth, the amount of people that have asked me to paint their cars..
