Red face

So I was watching the ITN last night, and they were going on about the Iraqi people looting the shops. They were stealing some stupid stuff!

Which made me think. At what point during a riot or war, do people decide to start looting? do they just put a brick through any shop window and go for it whenever they feel like?

And why is it only during riots & wars?

Crush (king of stupid questions)

Seems to me to be nothing to do with riots or wars.
Its only when they know they won't get their collar felt by the old bill as they're too busy doing something else.
Like the power cuts in the states a few years ago.

It's when they get the feeling that law and order has broken down and chaos has taken over.

Happened a 5/6 years ago in NI during the usual summer riots (chaos, not looting) , cars being hijacked in certain areas and burned as road-blocks. It was the only time I drove through red lights and felt like it was the right thing to do. Streets were not normal, only bad people hanging around.
