Got the nokia kit in mine. Works fine but they do tend to loosen up parts of the dash in the process of fitting it... (mainly the surround to the stereo area where they route the wires out of the handset holder.)

Charlie.

hey, are you implying that mine was *not* done by professionals?

FYI *I have got the tax disc holder ariel too* so ner! However, in the bugeye dash there isn't that *little* (i use the term loosely) gap between the panels to route the wire through. So instead they put the wire between the panel that surrounds the stereo etc and the dash facia.

Who you calling unprofessional?!

I use the tax disc holders a lot and they work really well and look very "stealth".

I've got a slim inline antenna on mine that is small enough to go under the rooflining above the passenger door. Still seem to get a pretty good signal though.

When you get it fitted get them to "hi-jack" the door speakers rather than installing the speaker that comes with it which is absolute cr@p.

Not that tricky to do it yourself Paul, although i should point out that the mounting bracket on mine does not come as standard with any of the Nokia kits.
It's a dashmount bracket and another good idea is a mute loom that will mute the radio/CD when a call is made or recieved and outputs the handsfree through your front two speakers (nice and load and clear ).
The Nokia kits support radio muting if your ICE is suitable, but you will still need to use the (fugly) standard speaker supplied in the kit.

I have a Nokia kit in my Scoob, attached in a similar place to the pic of the one above. The cable on mine goes in through by the radio surround. The arial is stuck on the windscreen on the passenger side, and the microphone is by the courtesy light. I have the speaker that comes with the kit in the passenger footwell and it often gets kicked. However reception is good. Can someone explain how the tax disc holder saves people knowing you have an incar kit when they an easily see the phone holder?

I hve also had a Nokia incar kit put in my Almera. This kit was fitted by someone else, they recommended having the added kit so the phone uses the radio speakers, and this works much better.

Paul,

No really, even i can do it, and sometimes even get paid for it

I would ring a few of your local ICE retailers, most of them should be more than capable of installing one.

Good point chris but in a large car park at a distance it will be less obtrusive and slightly less of a target plus they often get pulled off by ******* for no good reason.

The problem with wired kits (nokia) is they are very model dependant so you shell out £150 on the car kit and you cnt change your phone unless you go and replace most of the car kit as well.

go for a ericsson with the adjustable holder or a bluetooth from any company so you can chqange your phone as often as you like. If you are going for a bluetooth one get a cradle as well so you have somewhere to put the phone and charge it.

The ericsson bluetooth kit is excellent a mate has just had it installed shame it wasnt out when I had my wired one fitted.

I thought the problem with Bluetooth kits was that they might not count as wired in hands free kits when the new regulations come out. Therefore could be a total waste of money.

Must admit having to get a phone to fit a cradle is a bore, but it just means not changing the phone!
