Curious really...I've had one of the Origin Blue-i systems in the last car & to be honest I was quite happy with it, although I found it a little large, and not that easy to read. However it never let me down.
Question is what other systems are available in the market place - GPS based, and working from historical data programmed into the manufacturers systems i.e. not laser detectors etc etc???
What ideas have people got, preferences, prices, ease of install???
There was also a rumour that Smart Nav/Trackstar/Traffic Master were considering developing one...has anyone heard this, or did I dream about it??!!
All comments are appreciated.
Cheers

(Mods...if you feel this would be better suited in another area...please move....

type radar into the search engine and you will get 100s of threads. the best exposition on the subject is www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk. I've just purchased a Road Pilot + Radar which is meant to be the mutts nuts. watch this space

My Geodesy PLus is great, the roadpilot is a bit more swanky but bear in mind the +radar option is ILLEGAL as are all active detectors. Traffic cops will completely own you if they catch you with one, they bloody hate them and since my local traffic cops like to cruise past my car when in the petrol station etc i would not consider having a +radar.
I think they might know my P1 with stickers is often seen 'blitzing' the local back roads

Rum - I've got a Road Angel, and have used a PDA-based Trafcam unit.
Ask Pauleds what he thinks of the "Trafcam".
I can certainly vouch for the Road Angel.
I'm not too far away, so you're welcome to take a look if you like.

Hi Tom, I saw you sneaking into Donno on Sunday, I was just leaving...traffic was mental![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I've never used a radar detector, well unless you count as an early warning system!

Rum....
There's a relatively recent group buy thread for Snooper + laser Jammer, which links to a site comparing the capabilities of the 5 most common GPS/database systems... you can probably sniff it out if you're interested (and there's a good discount available, too)
However, my guess is, that the protection factor is down to the quality of the databases (including removal of temporary cameras from them). And how you can judge the relative qualities, I just don't know. And my guess is.... few people will post to say "well I've got an "X" - and its C**P"!!!
The thread offers a good discount BTW![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Cheers,
Phil
Turning to "Active detectors". Technically, there's no such thing - detectors are, by definition passive (and hence legal). Active Technology goes into 'Jammers', whose legality is much more perhapsical....

I have a Geodesy Plus and have been pleased with it (especially when got the PLUS upgrade so I don't get the annoying beeps when staionary in traffic!), although not as flash as the newer ones around. Saying that, Morpheous have bought out a newer model, the RoadPilot, which looks pretty good....

Not sure about the others.
