Just got a ticket for doing 57mph in a 40mph.
Never had a ticket before. Has filling out the explanation section ever got anybody off or a reduced penalty?

Depends what you put in it! If your wife was giving birth at the hospital and you needed to be there urgently due to possible complications with the birth, and your hospital/doctor can verify the time, place and circumstances, then you may be looked upon more leniantly than if you were just driving quickly because you felt like it.

As with most cases involving speeding, circumstances are everything - even with the best excuse in the world, if it was going past a school, or it was bad weather conditions, then I don't think any excuse will work.

I wouldn't put anything in the box. You broke the law, you are pleading guilty and that's it.
