sony net md N505 is quite cheap £120 or loads on eBay (new ones) for 65-75 quid (don't bid higher - you've got shipping and import duty)

usb plug to your pc and 15 minutes to write 2.5 hours of music to a disc. comes with software to write mp3s to disc too, so lots of evaluation music on offer

get some fontopia groove earphones though.
