No such thing as a good deal with a plazma, I have had a 42 inch for a couple of months now, And compaired to my lowe planis, It is utter crap.
Checked out screens as high as 10k, And the lowe still blews them all away.
IMHO.

Get yourself a projector m8, they are the dogs! Keep your 32" tv for day to day watching, and get a 7' screen at least, and spend less than half you would of on a projector. I have a Sony which cost me £1400, see www.chriswilky.co.uk for details. Absolutley fantastic, and was playing Metroid Prime on it last night, total immersion!

Depends on how much you want to pay, i just bought a 42" panasonic PW5 for £3000. I didnt get the tuner but this is available for £400, forgot to say this was from richer sounds.

Good info guys. I have also been looking at Sony projectors for about £1500 and was thinking that was the way to go, but then we swung back towards plasma screens. Going to have a feature room, mainly for movies so maybe best to have the massive cinema style picture.

Many thanks

There is a popular misconception with plasma screens that they are all the same and therefor cheapest is best. If I was to tell you that your Scoob wasn't as good as my car because mine only cost £500 you would think that I was stupid. Obviously the cheaper of two of the same screens is the better choice but be carefull that you are not buying an old model or one that is just about to be replaced. LG is a prime example, these can be bought for £2k however these are the older screen, the newer ones are the ones to go for. IMHO at the moment you have to be paying over £3k to get something worthwhile. However, you will only be buying something nearly as good as a CRT. If you want to beat CRT picture quality you have to be looking at spending another chunk of cash.

Chris has a point, I also have an overhead lcd projector, which i use for watching movies.
Although they lack a bit of definition and black scale, they do give a good cinamatic picture.
If you tell me how to i can post or mail you a picture of the plazma and pj in situe.
chris.
gosh our names are close chris w.

I've got a Pioneer 503HD 50" and it's the dogs bollocks.
Old plasmas had fans, avoid those.
Old plasmas had short screen lives, avoid those.
Old plasmas had low contrast ratios, avoid those.
Old plasmas had low refresh rates (less than 100hz), avoid those.
Don't bother with projectors unless you're happy watching TV in complete darkness.
A plasma screen will always give up a razor sharp image, and you don't have to **** around with focusing.
As Chaz says, her pays her money, you takes yer pick.
Avoid cheap plasmas. Look to spend over £5K for a 50"
These guys have great prices: http://www.leconcepts.com/dvd_home.htm
