Hi,

We had a new patio and whilst it was being done we decided to have a drain put under the outside tap as there wasnt one there before. I know it has to take to water to somewhere but it must be going to the sewerage pipes because it stinks!

Any of ideas of anything we can have done to stop the smell come back up through the drain "gate" thing, short of just blocking it off?

Cheers,

You will have to cap it off and then re route another pipe to the nearest man hole, which might in volve a bit of work. ie, digging trench, getting fall on pipe, covering with pipe bedding etc etc

Do you mean sewerage pipe or foul (that comes from toilets ?) If the smell comes from the foul you might have a blocked drain.

I'm no expert on drains though !

Hi,

I'm not sure if it is fowl or sewerage (all sounds to the same to me - I knowa nothing about building, plumbing, etc). The new drain and pipe is close to one of those covers you can pull up if there is a problem, so I assume it is connected to that.

I think I'm going to have to get someone out...

Cheers,

Yep, as stated above, replace the gully with a trapped gully & the smell should be gone.

John.
