near Huddersfield there's one of the double tube sensors on the road for speed measurement and AFAIR it's either on the last couple of lines of a gatso or within about 2 yards of them - wonder what that's trying to prove... calibrating the gatso or justifying another one... And correct me if Im wrong, the cnutstubbles in the revenue car are illegally parked. Or is it now legal to park on pavements next to double yellow lines?

I read in a paper the other day that a top cop in one area (manchester?) has told plod not to be illegally parked when harrassing motorists with laser beams.

<awaiting a court appearance for 100 mph on a motorway in perfect conditions>

I have no respect whatsoever for the police now and will not co operate in anything they have a part in. TOSSERS.

Yes, it's there regularly and yes it does park completely on the pavement.

The van is obscured by lamp posts, the Gatso itself and by houses and walls, so you don't see it until you're on it. The traffic lights are also covered by a red light camera.

The road is a dual carriageway "main road" with housing estates on both sides, 30MPH limit. Because of this I actually support this one as it seems to be helping to keep pedestrians safe.

The road in question is Blackpool Road in Preston. Its has two lanes on both sides. I can understand the reason for a speed camera in this location, but TWO in 20 YARDS?

They are just cashing in...

I know the location well.

One of our lads at work was caught for doing 34 in that zone by that mobile speed trap.

I don't think the yello Gatso actually works, there'd be no need for the mobile if it did????

I agree in enforcing the speed limit and safety in that area as it is still very much so residential but if they are going to enforce it then they need to actually enforce it.

They have the car to catch you because people will brake for the camera. They may miss the car therefore get caught by it.

hmmm, dunno if parking on the pavement and forcing pedestrians closer to the road is keeping them safe ?

Seen the tax van parked there on blackppol road a few times, Saturday mornings included.

They also like park (half hidden by a brick wall) on the pavement alogside watery lane, monitoring the speed of the stationary traffic queing for the watery lane / strand road traffic lights during the morning rush hour.

They also like to put a camera van in the middle of London Road, pointing up at the traffic that's coming downhill towards the bridge over the Ribble ... just as the traffic passes the Gatso that's also there

In Bristol they tend to wait a couple of hundred yards after a gatso, just about where you start putting your foot down with a false sense of security after spotting the gatso.... b*stards!

Can we perhaps try and curb daft generalised comments like... "I have no respect whatsoever for the police now and will not co operate in anything they have a part in. TOSSERS" -Pointelss.

"I can understand the reason for a speed camera in this location, but TWO in 20 YARDS?" -I think if you look closely you'll see that one is a speed camera, and the other is for the traffic lights.

No reason to curb comments at all, and they are not daft. Its an opinion I hold and Im entitled to it, just as you are entitled to post your 'enlightened' comments

The difference between the freely heald opinion posted by yourself, and the one I posted, is that one is offensive, and one is not (apperently it's enlightened).

When you choose to express yourself by offending others, I'm sure you expect to see replies such as these, just as I'm sure notice of your forthcoming court appearance came as no suprise after bieng clocked at 100mph.

"There is one yellow gatso, 20 yards from that a mobile speed trap and another 20 yards from that! (not pictured). The one not pictured is one set up for traffic lights." -this really doesn't make much sense.

"I have not respect for police. If I saw one on fire I wouldnt even **** on them!" -I don't even know what to say to that, other than to hope that you're not hypocrytical enough to ever call on the services of the police when something goes wrong for you in future. Very sad indeed.

"Ex_Pug - Shut up!" -Yup, well, whatever.

At least with my dictionary I'll be able to learn how to spell. There really aren't any books out there that can raise intelligence levels sufficiently for you to be able to engage in any sort of structured argument, let alone stick to the point I was trying to make. I don't care how devious and highly questionable your local traffic police are, that's got nothing to do with me, or what I was trying to say.

My Dad didn't suffer injury upon injury at the hands of the scum of this country trying to do his job, for arrogant no-brainers like you to label him ‘Tosser’, just because you have a thing about traffic cops and your, dare I mention it, impending court appearance.

"2 of the houses I own have been broken into and a thousand pounds worth of damage done to my car with no-one brought to 'justice'. Rest assured I won't call on a worthless service that picks easy targets and doesn't bother going after real criminals." -I could try and point out how well this displays your complete lack of understanding with regards to policing in general, but somehow I don't think it'd sink in.

Don't worry, I can see I've wasted enough time on this already, and I'm 'plodding off' already.

Exclamation

Well this is a thread VERY close to my heart at the moment. I am currently working VERY HARD to join the Metropolitan Police Service, and when I see comments like some that are shown on this thread I am finding myself getting

Remember, Police Officers at the end of the day are only people doing a job!

Can we stop the bitching in this thread now please, otherwise I will be forced to close this thread.

Ian
