as the title says, just out of interest (not inc cars!)
For me the best would probably be the Tivo, the worst....a crate of Stella that made me ill for days
Anyone else?

My house. Gives me benefits of not living at "home", and had effectively doubled in value.... but reduces the amount I can spend on beer and my Scoob. Swings in roundabouts....

Never regretted it so much for selling a car
Worst Thing: Buying a 3-foot Tweety(yeah, the cartoon bird) for my girlfriend at the time, she loved it so much , she dumped me 1 week later

The other halfs diamond ring, has kept her happy for the last year..........and has given me many get out of jail passes.....
The worst is the diamond ring as now she wants matching earings, bracelet and necklace........
No1 daughters PC......now I never see her well not since she was 11, she's now 14 (what do they do in their bedrooms????)
No2 daughters quad bike (shes 4)......2 stroke petrol sounds great, I can use it just and it really goes....
Worst thing for me, a vegetable steamer not used once in 5 years, a Moulinex do all chop/dice/squide thing again not used, and a juicer thing again not even out the packaging

Best thing: Bose Lifestyle Home Cinema system, some people like them, some don't, I love mine. The built in speakers on my TV have never been used!
Worst thing: York Multi-gym, I built in in my spare room (took me about a week) and I have NEVER used it. Not once, not even tried it. And of course, now it's too big to take out without dismantling it so we use it to hang clothes on.

The best thing was an engagement ring for my fiancee (who will be my wife next weekend!) and the worst thing was a Gucci watch for a money-grabbing, ungrateful ex-girlfriend!

Best thing - Telescope, can't believe how relaxing it is sat outside star gazing after a cr*p day at the office
Worst thing - £1667 worth of QXL shares. After a nice "restructure" they are worth a massive £112.50!!

sad thing i can't actually think of anything that isn't car related ....I must get a life!
At a push the best would be : gym membership

It's too hard to pick out just one thing - I've had lots of good buys in the last few years. Not too many bad ones, thankfully.
Good:
TiVo - oddly enough, most people who buy one seem to rate it as one of their top toys.
Digital SLR camera - turned into a whole new, creative and relaxing hobby for me.
ADSL, laptop and wireless LAN - Scoobynet in bed
Bad:
ISA - bad move, very expensive
Garage floor paint - sticks to tyres better than concrete

good to see a few others marking their Tivo as the best buy
Actually I want to revise mine - the worst thing I've bought is 'recognition' software for Aibo - used it twice and now up for sale on ebay - awful stuff!

Best Thing: Difficult question, because stuff doens't make me happy, but generally, anything I got a good deal on makes me happy. I do like a good haggle, no matter what it's for
Worst thing: 2 tyres that didn't fit my rims It was early in the morning, and I wasn't thinking I sold them on though, so I guess that won't count? Probably my pool cue, cause I can't play worth a crap
