Ours is an Ariston. About a year ago, it started playing up: the programmer would just click round at about 1 second intervals, never stopping anywhere to do what it was supposed to do.
I bought, and fitted, a new programmer, which cured the fault, but it's doing the same again.
When I took off the old programmer, I had it into bits on my worktop, and it's only got about 6 moving parts! The little electric motor went OK, the gears were OK, and the PCB was not damaged at all, nor were the contacts which move over the PCB, but rebuilding, and refitting it in place of the new one, saw the problem reappear.:
What the hell is wrong with it? And should it need programmers at £80 each this frequently?

I don't know much about repairing them, just that nowadays it's cheaper to replace than repair.
You can pick up a decent Siemens/Bosch washer for just over £200

Alcazar,
Is there an electronic module on your machine?
on modern machines (2-3 years old), a lot of the programing is
done by the module - if it doesn't 'talk' to the programmer the
programmer 'forgets' what it is supposed to be doing, and goes
clicking around trying to find where it is supposed to be !!
There again, if you dont have a progammer/module machine, it
could be an inherent fault/problem with the programmer - have you
tried contacting the manufacturer??
alan (hope the above makes some sense )
