I'm not telling the whole story again cos it will just wind me up and i'm fed up of telling and typing it
Basically,
i bought a phone and contract from phones 4 U to get a cheap phone by not using the contract but paying the line rental
My contract is due to expire and i write to cancel it, after 3 months the contract will finally be cancelled cos apparently they did'nt recieve the letter and after 3 more months of line rental and a administration fee the letter turns up and they now want there balance which they will not be getting *****
I have spoken to trading standards and mailed watchdog
has anyone else had problems in terminating contracts with these w@nkers

they sent me a phone and changed my contract out of the blue. they said they cant do anything to chage me back. i lost 300 mins of talk time every month cuz of this.
said ok i'll keep the phone and pay for it (wanted a new phone) and got them to cradit me over £150 back for the lost talk time.
Ray
I always tell them im gonna contact the media with my story when things go wrong and they always fix it.

yep. had a lot of problems cancelling after my son had his nicked. they agreed a verbal termination on future written confirm. then denied this, then said they didn't recieve it etcetc ... took 3 months.

just spoke to a friend who is with them, had his phone nicked, no probs at all.
All this 3 months stuff... why wait three months, write a letter, you get a letter back acknowledging your letter and a date of cancellation. If you've not got one in a week call them to check and send another, and fax a copy too. Basically what happened is you thought you were getting it free so didn't chase them up. If not, surely you get a monthly bill?

IIRC, they have circa 2 million customers, so there will always be some stories somewhere.
You'll enjoy this though. I've spent a good few hours in the server room of 4u/Singlepoint. I had the pleasure of watching a disk upgrade go wrong and the new RAID controller delete all the data on the server the accounts department used

I just bought a Samsung S300 on SP from Phones4U. Took me nearly 3 weeks to actually get the handset as they wont let you have it until they port your number. Obviously if your not porting your old number then you are ok.

got my new mobile from Phones 4 u, 2 mths ago, they wanted £150 for the nokia 7250 (camera fone) told him to bo**ocks, argued for 5 mins then the manager came over and said if i took 3mths insurance out now for £23.98 i could have the fone for nowt.
So i tuned to the asssistant and said "there u go, now y didn't u say that at the start and save all this arguing"
Glad to say no problems as yet.

get the post office to confirm what day they received the letter, unless it says in your contract you have to pay 12 months plus an extra 3 over a cancellation period they cant do anything.have you been to CAB?

Yes !!!!
Two letters and countless e-mails and the ******* still send me a new bill every month, been trying to dump the contract for 4 months now.
I'm really p1ssed off with them and feel like driving to the head office and having a 'word'.

Singlepoint are the biggest bunch of monkeys I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
Had a major problem with my phone and they wouldn't replace it (completely their fault). Talked to a top manager there who, after hours of arguing, said he'd call me back and sort it out. 10 months on he still hasn't called me and whenever I call he is always 'in a meeting'. *****.
On the plus side I managed to cancel my contract today. Just have to wait and see if they keep sending me bills...
I wish this thread were about 12 months ago.

They really are bad at cancelling contracts - they don't want the money to stop coming in I guess.
Rang to cancel my contract and they immediately go into the prepared 'what can we offer to keep you?' speech.
Fair enough, so I told them the truth: 'I'm getting a staff phone from Vodafone - it costs nowt'.
Still got 7 further calls and 3 letters from them asking how they could beat my new deal?? WTF?? They eventually gave up when I explained that the only way would be to pay me - how can you beat a free phone from the service provider?? Muppets!
