After years of Simon Cowells pop cr@p, we have a band who are the real deal. Saw them on Jools Holland's music show on Sat night - theses guys were awesome. Best thing I've seen in years out of the UK.

Do you rockers agree, or not???

Excellent stuff Richie! Bought my copy last week; the only thing that kept me sane whilst in Liverpool...

It's a bit of an aquired taste, but maybe being a Rush fan for almost 30 years helps?

Possibly. I was always more Deep Purple, AC/DC and Iron Maiden.

Carl

I like AC/DC, but always preferred Zeppelin to Purple.

Anyone who wishes to catch a quick sample of the new Darkness album, head to: www.hmv.co.uk

Type in "Darkness" in the search engine, click on "Permission to Land" and you'll be rewarded with 30secs (or so) sound clips of each track.

Cheers

OK, done that,I've got two words to say about that band :

sh1te.
sh1te.

come back astraboy and his hardcore twaddle, all is forgiven.

had to edit to say sh1te, strange because I can say **** and ****, both words actually quite apt in this thread.

Dangerous assumption to make MJ; not all of us sound like Oz, Dennis and Neville... I live in North Yorkshire, and despite my best efforts at St James' Park, many of my Pals would say I'm relatively "accent free".

Cheers!

Been watching out for The Darkness since I read some ppl raving about them on SN. I reckon it's an acquired taste - the singer seems to think he's Freddie Mercury reincarnated. Think I'll pass on the album, thanks all the same.

Saw them at Glastonbury... they were the 1st act on the main stage friday 10am..... err. Bl00dy funny, the lead guy was off his face.

Then it started to rain.

If I had a spare £10 I'd consider buying the album, but am always a bit disappointed listen to a band recorded after hearing live.

Wow.....return of the thread, posted this almost a month ago. Well, I've also bought the album since then and I think its very good. Yes, Justin Hawkins is an acquired taste, vocally but I think it works brilliantly due to the good songwriting.

I hope they last a while and don't implode on the back of the hype surrounding them.

As an aside, as a kid I listened to GNR's appetite to destruction all the time turning the volume down every so often so my mum couldn't hear the swearing. You'd be doing that an awful lot with this album....but maybe not everyone is as sensitive these days.

In the same way that Andrew W.K. was going to be the "saviour", yes I suppose they'll do the same as he did

Like 'em, they're obviously taking the **** and it's a laugh.

got this yesterday from tescos, where its no.5 in their album chart!
gotta admit, the singers voice is insane, but i really like the album. get some very worried looks from passersby when driving and playing it with the windows down!

Wink

Is Justin Hawkins the son of Stephen Hawkins?

errrr no, just listened to them, sounds more like a girl with some bad 80s ROCK in the background
