does anyone know of a better rate than 7 pence a minute to call poland. i think someone when taking about the iraq war mentioned a cheaper rate than this but i cannot find the thread

That was probably me. My wife is Polish, and we use TeleDiscount (www.telediscount.co.uk). It's just 2p a minute on 0844 4 620 620.

thats it, thanks boxst. must say i read with clenched teeth while reading the polish thread. i went to poland for 3 months at the end of last year training people to do my job (on a quarter of my wages) because the manufacturing of electric motors has been moved there and made everybody here in england (600 people) redundant. I thought the people and the country was great. People on average seemed more friendly and helpful than people here. i guess more like the 'friendlier' and 'less selfish days' back in my parents days. the girls were at least as beautiful as here but like some european countries seemed to age quicker once they got older (40 ish)and i saw no 'lager lout' girls. yes, i prefer not to see drunk and sick 'ladies' while out. just my opinion. i will go back one day. Zakopane and Krakow were superb
