I won a new samsung V200 last night on Ebay..

The price was good and it was one of 5 selling by the same person. I'd only glanced at his feedback and seen 100%..

When I'd won the phone, I was just going to pay for it and I thought i'd read his feedback. He has 3 independant feedbacks only (all good), but they are for things like fridge magnets and other cheap stuff he's bought.

I checked his other items he had for sale and he has a shop on Ebay which had around 30 brand new model mobiles for sale, all ending at the same time last night(no feedback for selling phones).

It seemed strange to me so I emailed the other 4 people that bought the V200's to see what they thought and I also emailed the seller. The seller replied to me and said "just started selling, pay me by Escrow if you don't trust me". Seems stange to me though, all those phones the first time selling, all finishing the same time, all with no reserve!

Thing is I don't know whether I should buy using Escrow, even though you are supposed to get the money back if it's not genuine, I can just see it taking ages and being a mess, all when I need a new phone.

How can I prove this guy is for real?

You can't. Need to go on feedback and feelings. Ebay will compensate for fraud but I think it's only up to £100, but I reccommend you check this.

hmm..

just been back and he's had two feedbacks this afternoon for phones, one from a buyer from 23:30 last night, surely they wouldn't have the phone already.

Think I'll see what it looks like tomorrow..

How far is he from you? You could always drive round and collect it (or at least suggest it and see how he reacts....)

Find out where he lives. If hes not near you someone from scoobnet must come from the same town. Ask if they will go round and collect it for you.
If its near me i'll do it ?

Pay by Credit Card if your not sure and then if it is dud, issue a chargeback!

You do get up to 6 months to claim for a chargeback so I would advise using your card and then see what you get.

I had the same problem when buying a Dior Handbag & Gucci Watch off eBay a few months ago, I was starting to panic and I E-Mailed the sellers who I saw had closed down their accounts just after my action had ended! I did get the product after some time and they were real but you do have to be so careful when buying things like that online! Make sure you keep in contact with him and ask lots of questions.

I've got a brand new V200 mobile, very handy but not as quick as my old T100 Mobile. Pictures are good though.

Let me know how it goes.......

Thanks people.

Guess the credit card thing is the way to go. Not sure I'll get that amount covered though.

MrsP1fanatic, I have a T100 atm, fancy another camera phone again though. I like the samsung coming with cable to upload pics to pc etc.

Yeah they are good phones, not had mine for long now but Ive had fun with all the same. I would show you some but they are far too rude! lol

So how much of a bargain is this phone?

P.S The data cable charges your phone at the same time and doesnt take all that long to download them, I downloaded a few more ring tones as I was waiting!

Plus, I ordered a Desktop Charger for my V200, it came from eBay for £4.50 inc P&P and its great, you can do your spare battery at the same time and the T100 fits it! Good bargain if you ask me.

Strick up an "FAO: Anyone in/nr Wolverhampton" and see if some-one would be willing to help you. I'm a little too far out, would cost me a load in fuel.

Paid by credit card last night because i saw he had good feedback from someone for a new phone yesterday..

Today bad feedback saying don't deal with him, didn't hear from him was left, I'm worried now

He won't answer my mails, when I checked PayPal the business address that the payment has gone to is different from the address he gave me(above) and a different email is present.

Previous details are above, here's what PayPal say I've payed to

doesn't matter as if you paid by credit card then you get it back, if he's accepting credit cards then its a better sign. Just wait and see, when the bill comes in and the goods haven't arrived you just call your card company and dispute the transaction as its never been shipped. They wait 90 days for him to prove the delivery and then its deleted from your account. No interest is charegd whilst its in dispute so no real sweat.

James, hope it all works out, i bought a phone on ebay, it was described as absolute mint, it was to look at, but it never worked, it took three weeks to get my money back,

how much cheaper are phones on ebay, i'm after a motorola t720i, they are £169 on the o2 site but i've seen them go for £157 on ebay, not much difference, how much cheaper did you get your phone?

off line they are £340-£380 ish, I paid £250, but then I paid £250 for nothing at the moment

I'm normally quite good with the feedback thing, I left it a while because I was suspicious, then I saw good feedback yesterday night for a phone that sold the same time as mine. I decided to bite the bullet and go for it.

I checked out the buyer who left good feedback and he is in the same town(presumed he'd collected). I tried to mail him (twice), no reply. I think it is probably one and the same user though. This could be his down fall if it is. I just have this feeling that the guy who left the good feedback was the guy pulling the scam, I reckon he opened a new user account with the fictional mobile phone seller, bought a few crap items to get some feedback and then used his alter ego to pull the scam. Gut feeling was bad from the start really.

what have ebay said, they'll probably want you to wait a while longer but don't they have an insurance policy on items over £15

But one of the complaints about the 8310 has posted negative feedback for non delivery only 2 days after the sale, how stupid are they goin to feel when the postie finally delivers it, bit premature I think.

Bit of an aside but I got scammed big time for a sizeable amount as I responded to an E Mail address contained on a listing and ended up doin the deal by e mail (stupid I know now) My point is, why do E Bay allow personal e mail addresses on listings when there is a "contact seller" facility on the listing,
