so, i pull up at the car park at my place of work having just picked up my new shiny black scooby (with gold wheels and pink badges) and i swear to god two youngish girls start laughing as i exit the car!
a week later, run in, debadged, with silver alloys, take my new girlfriend out for a drive in the peak district, and she is sat looking VERY embarrassed the whole time in the passenger seat...
few weeks later, go round to a female friends house, and her and her mate spend a good 20 minutes ripping the **** out of the size of the spoiler on my pride and joy....
i suppose the question i need to ask is this- why don't i care that i drive a car that women think is ridiculous and that blokes probably look at and think "what a ******" (generalising heavily i know)? i couldn't give a monkeys if i tried quite frankly, i really love my car, and the fact that people might not approve means sweet FA.
is this normal?

I can remember a Ferrari pulling into the car park at the place I used to work at. All the old biddy secretaries and some of the other guys were saying how the guy was probably trying to make up for other areas. I just said I thought it was a beautiful car and I'd like to own one. People are VERY jealous.

Well, I have bought a MX-5 for the summer evenings and I have to say - although its a hairdressers car - the girls LOVE it!! I am an ugly son of a bitch and I get whistled at by the ladies!! They stop and look around it too!!! amazing!

I have a wagon, because - lets face it, you really DO look like a **** with a BIG spoiler and Gold Wheels, don't you?? Its so 90's, its so tacky, its just sooooooooooooooooooooooo - nobby!!

Its quite sad how the Impreza dream is over, they are doing **** in the Rallies, they brought out an ugly pile of cr4p for 2 years, the world has moved on - no-one likes big spoilers, fat exhausts and noise ...................... cars like these are seen as a plague on society now. Sad days

Wonder who wishes they bought a wagon, now the coolest street car on the block ......... the understated look is where its all at!!

yes, fine, but does it matter what some small minded tw@ts think about our cars? who really drives a subaru because they think it looks good, the only real reason that we look at our cars and sigh with appreciation is because they drive better than almost everyone elses cars, thus making the vehicle more attractive in our eyes.
its a bit like when you meet someone who is okay to look at, but the more you get to know their personality their looks improve also. its in the eye of the beholder.(beer does this also)
i could be miles out, but i reckon thats what makes subaru owners a generally cool bunch of people, we are not that superficial!

I think it has - everything comes to an end and the Impreza is on its final spin.

Its just lost the respect it once had, the idea that a farmers car could take on the rally world and win!! It commanded a lot of respect!

Then came the BIG spoilers, the roybacers, the drainpipe exhausts, the whoooooosie dump valves, the tints, the neons Its now got pages of stuff you can buy for one in Max Power!!

The kids have now got them and are tarting them up to look like fairground rides!!!!

Its the end indeed - I really believe the wagon stands alone in being what the original Impreza was ..... quiet, powerful and understated ..... its where the real enthusiast will put their money!!

Let the kids scream around in the saloons getting them nicked and smashed up - the wagon is allready cheaper to insure!!!
