Puff The Magic Wagon!: well thank you for clearing that up, so there is not a thing they can do about me driving a 25mph in a 30mph
For the record, I would prefer to drive at 25mph in a 30mph limit
I resent the fact that councils have extended the speed limits to the village boundary just because they can.
Lets be sensible, most people want the speed limits and they want them enforced, because that’s what the councils do, represent public opinion.
Now lets have a trade off here 80mph on motorways and get rid of that bloody stupid 50mph, not even the police see the point of that.
30, 40 60 or 80, to many speed limits confuse and are not necessary.
Views please?

I really dont find what you say very impressive Ajax. The point is, it is really stupid to deliberately drive such that you cause inconvenience to other drivers just for your own entertainment. That is the only fact that I can glean from your original post.

DEEDEE: A professional driver backing the cause, 30 mph is to fast if it is needed outside a school and at other venerable areas, driving at 25 is perfectly in order.
Spoon: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was two locations, best we don’t give them ideas m8
jaf01uk: HGV’s have as much right on the road as any of us, they also pay more road tax, unless policy is changed we will see more HGV’s on the road transporting goods, that should really be using rail.
*Sonic*: yep were saving petrol to and making friends, you would never believe the amount of people that wave at me.
Peanuts: Quote
20 mph in towns etc
40 mph on the out of town road when the residential bit has stopped
85 mph on the Mway (do try to keep up PMTW!)
I drive at 27mph in a thirty, due to the inherant inaccuracy of my Speedo
Andy......
I think we need a 60 for open roads, otherwise Spot on M8
Those poor old speed cameras they wont make any revenue cost to much and somebody will have to take them all away. SHAME

Did you realise that you don’t have to do 30 MPH in a 30MPH speed limit
I have been doing 25MPH and its great fun, you can get a queue of traffic going back miles.
To think I am saving lives and screwing the environment all in one hit driving in third gear.
Don’t know why nobody seems to want to overtake, can’t think why. Anyone?

Puff The Magic Wagon!:
A Mod at last, at least you see the point of all this.
Public information!

But you can be done for going too slowly as well
So how is this defined, as speed camera cant detect this can they
After all they have replaced all the decent traffic cops that used to pull us up for proper offences and with a degree of human tolerance

on the kerb crawling issue there used to be a certain St in derby where certain inelegantly clad young (well thats how they look from a distance)ladies would frequent and the local authority decided to install speed humps on the same said street.
This meant obviously that having to slow down was a necessity when driving down the aforementioned boulevard so any convictions for kerbcrawling had an immeadiate mitigating excuse
The funniest thing though was the warning sign at the top of the street which had the following written in the red warning triangle
"Slow
humps for 1/4 mile"

Its not really defineable as such but 5/10mph down an open 30mph road is causing obstruction & hazard to other road users. If conditions allow that is...
I have (unbelieveable as maybe seems) been stopped for going too slowly on a M'way - about 30mph as my car was very sick - Obviously I was a potential hazard. Was told (at the time) that I could be nicked for it but he didn't.
As an example, overtook a car coming to the brow of a dual-carraigeway & pulled in to let the cars behind me carry on & as reached the crest saw a Cavalier doing about 25mph just 100m ahead Anchors on, change cogs, accelerate (match speed) into gap in o/side lane... I was only doing 65 - imagine @ 90...

My Aunt got stopped at the end of last year for driving at 20mph on her way home from picking my Grandad up from the hospital, they pulled her and breathalysed her. They gave their reason for stopping her as suspecting that she had been drinking, as she was driving so slowly. They gave her a producer, because they couldn't find anything wrong.
The thought never crossed their minds that she was driving slowly because the roads round here are so f**ked that all the bumps & potholes were jarring my Grandad's back!
So be warned, they'll get you one way or the other

I regularly drive at 20 mph with my bass pumped out. Besides, at 30 mph, I can't tell the difference between fitties and [pc]non-fitties[/pc] and waving at them might prove embarressing..

Here in leafy Surrey this is the fun game of choice for most tinny 3 door motorists There's nothing like dribbling around in your shiny new Micra at less than 30mph at all times it seems.

Safeway, Tesco and Asda lorries have been observed doing this on a regular basis on the A9 and many other roads in Scotland and for anything up to 10 - 15 miles at a time with queues of upwards of 5 miles behind them! AND they must pass at least one sign saying - "Please allow overtaking, frustration causes accidents!" When you do reach one of the few short pieces of dual carriageway its like the friggin wacky races!
Plate on the back saying Well Driven? I dont think so!!
