Diagnosis of asthma in adults
However, asthma is not the only reason to give salbutamol.
A dry cough can often respond to salbutamol. The peak flow reading can be normal when not tested during a coughing fit. All this does not necessarily mean asthma.

I am 24 and according to graphs I am supposed to be able to hit 475 l/min. My usual peak flow is 300 and my best has been 550.
I am currently doing a search to see if I can get the proper graph.....

Salbutamol is Ventolin - Salbumtamol is the drug, Ventolin is one of the generic names.
It is a short term reliever drug in inhaler form that relaxes the tiny airways in your lungs, effectively opening them up more and allowing more air to flow through.
Do you find breathing out hard at times?
Here is a site that tells you more on the drug

600 even after the third blow?
I dream of hitting 600.
My worst has been 50 (in hospital and in a bit of trouble!!!) and *** I said above, my best 550.
That is a pretty impressive peak flow rate for your age.![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
What other questions did she ask you?
Sorry if I am prying, I do find it a bit wierd given your excellent peak flow reading, the reason for prescribing you ventolin. I doubt the doctor will have given it you for nothing to be honest.![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
