Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote has what you need.
Warm enough with a nice breeze on the beach and plenty of local history and culture.
Dead friendly, good restaraunts and one scooby!!!(which I have been in!)
P.S. you'll get ave. temps. from any of the Holiday companies or even ceefax!!

![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I'm looking to take the wife and 3 kids abroad for Xmas and New Year. It must be warm but not too hot because youngest will only be 8 months old. Flight mustn't be too long for same reason.
I've narrowed it down to Lanzarote or Gran Canaria but has anybody got any other suggestions?
I want a quietish place not "Blackpool with sun" but suitable for kids to play on the beach etc.
Anybody know a good website for checking out historical or average temps?
Cheers
Jason

Yep. Bit windy, and no character (it's a custom-built holiday resort). But close to Arrecife, a nice golf course, and Cesar Manrique's house (and the karting track).

Anymore suggestions?
After spending ages reading Carl's link, Lanzarote sounds like a roach infested flea-pit!
Noisy nightlife is a no no cos I want the kids to sleep on a night!![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Warm weather and nice beaches are number one priority.

Well I liked it in Lanzarote. It was quiet enough for us in January (we have two kids, too) and we didn't see any roaches. We nearly went back this summer, but we decided on Portugal instead (better availability of flights from Stansted).
