Yeah, got a setup like that is my shed. Dead cheap those mini hifi units down a Richer Sounds

Seriously, I bet his mains adaptors alone costs more than my whole system.

Cheers

FM - you'd be surprised.

If you look at a company like Mana Acoustic's hi-fi furniture, you'd swear blind you could put it together for £20 from Travis Perkins. But a lot of R&D goes into their frames, so that the end result is (seems) way out of proportion to the materials used. Anyone can put together a metal frame - few get it right and significantly enhance the sound of a system.

Although it looks like a load of cheap shelving in the picture, i'll bet it actually isn't.

He certainly won't need to switch his heating on in winter if he's listening to the system

All that money, and I bet he listens to Phil Collins

Telboy

Yeah I see the point re the racking, but pallets are pallets unless there is a specific way of constructing them, we have a nice pile at work, maybe i'll bell him and see if he wants to take them off my hands for, say, something in the region of £20,000

FM -- the point of a stand is not that it changes the way that the equipment sounds, but it changes the way the room sounds. So the pallet may well work ... and if you dress it up a bit, you may just get £20K for it

Telboy -- does "Separate Lives" have excellent soundstaging, depth, instrument separation etc? Or is it the lyrics you're referring to
