I used to play an arcade game in the students union but cannot for the life of me remember what it was called. It was a 2 player game (although you could play against the computer). All I remember is that each international team that you picked had different obvious advantages. Germany had wicked shot power whilst Japan players moved very quickly. I remember the England team was generally good all round. The graphics were slightly cartoony but really good.

To shoot you had to depress a foot pedal! That must ring a bell for all you retro gamers. When I hear the name I will remember. Suggestions anyone?

Thats it!!! ah haaaaa 'Kick and Run' !!! It had a metal foot pedal similar in style to the throttle from a standup racing game!
