LOL i'm not going there
I don't mind watching them on telly and reading about them etc, but sod getting anywhere near them in real life!
Hand feeding them and getting in a large metal cage and being put in the sea with them is not my idea of self preservation

Super-si,
Yeah,really sorry I didn't check your link
, but then I have actually been in the cage at Gansbaai and seen these boys up close, not through my pc on the web.
So
.
PS Capetown is two hours drive away from Gansbaai.

great whites are more common than u think of our coast line, when the water is hot enough Bill fish can be caught off scotland so the sharks follow, Id be more worried about hammer heads and tiger sharks than great whites.

Bull Sharks are the daddies for attacking humans. Great Whites pose little threat in comparison
Anyone for a spot of fishing?

we have thought about great white fishing, but there would be more of a challenge catching a goliath tiger fish

Its something I would love to do but Deep Sea fishing in the West Indies was 2 grand a day + for the boat hire
so I gave it a miss as couldn't find 10 people to go to share the cost. I know its cheaper in Florida so the next time I go there I will definately give it a go
Blue Marlin/Sail Fish look like good sport too!

01 August 2003, 08:30 PM
LOL you wanna keep a look out for natural history programs about these beasties. There are some cool ones about on satellite. There was one I saw where some daft bugger was hand feeding them off the back of a boat
They fascinate me but I wouldn't want to hand feed one!
