Mobile Phone + water

Jumped in the pool today with my Nokia 3410 in my shorts, suffice to say its a bit waterlogged, what are the chances of it ever working again, at the moment the keypad lights up a bit and it makes scratchy beeping noises. What are its chances ?
If it is dead, what would make a good replacement, I like the look of the Nokia 3650 but its a bit pricey, is it worth it ?

the best thing to do is take it appart as soon as possible and mop up any water inside asap you. next put it on top of a tea towel in the airing cuboard for 24 hours. slow gentle heat may work, but doesnt sound too good..
good luck!

Double edged sword really, less aggro if it pulls through but I can justify a new one if it doesnt !
It was on when I jumped in so I reckon its f*cked !
currently re-aqainting myself with the mobile market, nowadays I just get the basic Nokia but I fancy something a little more interesting, any suggestions ?

If it was switched on when you jumped in the water then it's almost definately dead. Water and charged micro electronics don't get on with each other too well
Just get yourself a new one, you know you want to!!! Only problem is all your numbers and texts are lost (unless they are stored on your sim card which will be OK).

Are you PAYG or contract? If you're contract then you should be able to get an upgrade for not alot of cash. All you do is find one in a shop on a special offer then phone your service provider and they should match the offer without changing your contract. You'll probably have to extend it to 12 months unless you can do it on insurance (if you have handset insurance). If you're PAYG then your choices are limited without forking out some wedge.
If you like Nokia phones any of the new ones are OK, there's so many new phones about it's up to your own choice. Go into carphone warehouse and have a play. I have a 7250 which is the best phone I've had (and I've had a few ), the bird has a 6100 which I like alot too but it's smaller and very light and thin. I think the 6100 is free on a new contract in the shops and the 7250 is about £50.
Hope this helps, don't do it again!!

Phone insurance, you know, the additional charges that they hit you with after you've negotiated a better deal on your line rental.... All I do is break my phone every 6 months and get a free replacement of equal value !

Well against all the odds I tried it this morning, with a cheery beep it announced all was well !
have used it and it seems fine, considering I was switching it on and off whilst damp (must admit to trying to finish it off) its working perfectly, bloody Nokia making their phones too robust !

take the battery off, thats the most important thing or you will get an electrolytic reaction going on inside the phone. Then put it in an airing cupboard over night or somewhere warm but not hot. If it is salt water I would not fancy your phone's chances. If it is fresh water I would give it 50/50!
