Apparition

~A letter to a friend.~

A line to say I'm still alive
and that I'm not yet dead!
But I'm getting more forgetful
and mixed up in my head.

I'm used to my arthritis
to my dentures I'm resigned,
I can manage my bifocals
but how I miss my mind!
Sometimes I can't remember,
when I'm standing by the stair,
If I'm going up for something
or I've just come down from there.

And when I stand before the fridge
my mind is full of doubt.
Have I just put some food away
or come to get it out? I go into the other room
and when I get there, what
I want to know is why I've come?
Already I've forgot !

But remember that I love you
and wish that you lived near
And now it's time I posted this
and said "Goodnight" my dear.

Now I'm standing by the post box
and my face is ruby red,
For instead of posting it to you,
I've opened it instead.



Now be honest....who has NEVER had a day like that ?
