I have always drilled from the front.
I have the plate over a piece of wood and then drill into that, no problems here

depends on what sort of plates....i make some that are not quite legal....for shows of course...i reccomend a double sided sticky hook and loop tape that i use...so if u are naughty and forgot to change ur plates after a show u can pull them off and put the other set back on...easier tha redrilling or messing with a screw driver, also the plate looks nicer with no fixings..

mail me and i will send u some

sometimes when drilling from the front you can push the backing strip off slightly, so i would drill from the back that way you are pushing onto the back strip and there's less chance of this coming off slightly leaving a little gap between the plate and the plastic.

Thumbs up

Halfords, numberplate fixing pads, 1mm and 6mm options, £2 a pack, looks better cos no ugly screws in your plates!
