I've never heard of that Chris de Turd song and the lyrics don't make it any clearer. Sounds like its up to his usual high standard.

On another note don't you just hate "lady in Red"- I associate it with the hyped schmaltzy coverage of the wedding of that fat ginger bint to the retards prince. Worst of all are the people that have it as "their song". Personally I can't think of a better emetic.

Back on topic Christmas rocks- we should only be discussing around mid december though.

It's not so bad.

I can stay in and get p1ssed, go out and get p1ssed or work for 5x the normal rate.

Load of sh1te on tv and having to waste money on distant family I'd rather not be related to are the worst parts.

Cool

The point of Christmas is to send, and then recieve loads of cards to people you either...

1.Hardly know
2.Sent you one
3.Are related to,but never see,or more likely, cant stand the sight of

...then when your friends come round to your house you can impress them with how popular you are.

I love it.

Freezing cold.

Scrape your windows.

Dark in the morning, dark at 1600hrs.

Freezing cold laminate flooring.

Ladders out, lights going up.

Put the deccies up along with the tree, why is that Light not working, oh look theres another one, and another one...

Buying stuff for people you dont see for twelve month periods.

Being nice to people you dont like.

5 deep at the bar in your local, and youve never seen any of them before.

Doormen on your nice and quiet local, "pound in the bucket please", "**** off".

Works nights out, with people you thought you knew, but you dont, they change out of work!

Pi55 heads everywhere.

Indegestion.

Cant wait.

Christmas is rubbish.

Hearing "A Spaceman Came Travelling" by Chris De Burgh on seeming auto-repeat, having yet another 'hilarious' Only Fools And Horses Christmas Special (if ever something needed shooting .....), the office Christmas party, trivial speculation on "will it snow on Christmas Day"..... and the list goes on.

There is one bright spot, a shining star in the morass of mundanity. Christmas means it's not long until the skiing season's upon us. I tingle with excitement though December and January for those few short weeks in February.

I come back tired, bruised, and generally unable to walk for a week, but it's a small price to pay.

LOL I'm not deaf, I really have never heard it- I tend to switch off if total crap comes on the radio etc.

Please don't tell me anymore! I'm free of it so far.

A spaceman came travelling on his ship from afar,
'Twas light years of time since his mission did start,
And over a village he halted his craft,
And it hung in the sky like a star, just like a star...

He followed a light and came down to a shed,
Where a mother and child were lying there on a bed,
A bright light of silver shone round his head,
And he had the face of an angle, and they were afraid...

Then the stranger spoke, he said "Do not fear,
I come from a planet a long way from here,
And I bring a message for mankind to hear,"
And suddenly the sweetest music filled the air...

And it went La La...
Peace and goodwill to all men, and love for the child...

This lovely music went trembling through the ground,
And many were wakened on hearing that sound,
And travellers on the road, the village they found,
By the light of that ship in the sky, which shone all round...

And just before dawn at the paling of the sky,
The stranger returned and said "Now I must fly,
When two thousand years of your time has gone by,
This song will begin once again, to a baby's cry..."

And it went La La ... This song will begin once again
To a baby's cry...
And it goes La La... Peace and goodwill to all men, and
Love for the child...
Oh the whole world is waiting, waiting to hear the song again,
There are thousands standing on the edge of the world,
And a star is moving somewhere, the time is nearly here,
This song will begin once again, to a baby's cry...

Love the delicate rhyming ... shed/bed, sky/fly, afar/start

Its supposed to be a family celebration really, so if you have a good family relationship it should be something to look forward to. Its a chance to make others happy as well.

I love Christmas Day, get up, open pressies, MrsREV starts Christmas lunch, I go to my local and have a pint and a cigar with "the lads" then back home to eat, then off to whichever relative is hosting the best party and get slowly drunk, then off to the local hotel bar (it's the only one open for miles around) to finish off the night with "the lads" and associated other halves.

But I HATE New Year because of the whole "go out and get pissed except you can't get served at the bar 'cos it's so busy then when you do get a drink you can't drink it because there's no room to move your arm and then some **** jostles someone's arm on the other side of the pub and the chain reaction causes everyone to spill their drink then at the end of the night you can't get a taxi and if you do you'll need a remortgage to pay for it and you'll always end up either in a fight with some troll or breaking up some other idiots fight and then you spend the next day with a hangover and then it's back to work".

I like Christmas, though discussing it now is a tad early. Admittedly it lost much of the magic when I worked out Santa Claus was the Old Man, but you appreciate other aspects.

I guess it depends on your circumstances. I love my family, and have a great circle of friends, and Xmas is a good time to all get together, and socialise. Sure, it is over commercialised, and the local gets a tad busy from time to time, but the seasonal spirit if you allow it, makes you happy.

I'm not going to preach to all those out there who hate the season, there's no point. One should just try to enjoy any season for its merits, rather than becoming cynical, and hence depressed, when looking at the bad side of it all the time.
