Sitting here this morning listening to Steve Wright Sunday love songs and thinking they don'y make them like that anymore, still got my head into 60's stuff mainly The Beatles, I like some music from the 90's Craig David, to name but one but really can't get my head outta the sixties syndrome

Have to agree with you there Scoob. Watched TOTP the other night with the kids. Couldnt understand a word those rap(or is it crap) singers were saying. Put on subtitles and still couldnt make any sense of it.
Some of the ppl on there were miming as well which should not be allowed at all.
As for all this electronic stuff all the stuff sounds the same to me.
Chip.

In answer to your original question :Because you are getting old.
quote: "I like some music from the 90's Craig David" errr this might explain why like listening to Steve Wright (who must be about the most annoying, self centered and indulgent tosser on the radio BTW)
Still everyone to their own taste- I like a lot of "todays music" just not the crap they tend to play on mainstream stations.

What people forget is in "the good old days" there was still loads of rubbish.
Some of todays music is as good as in the 60's,70's and 80's...if not better.

'cos most of it is either banal pop ****e or 'songs' where some talentless **** shouts over a regurgitated dance track/ bass beat. evidence = Radio 1 and those two hapless pretend US 'street' DJs who spout their filth on a Sunday morning - they'd have been better off paying more attention at school IMO

Can't help but notice how many cover versions pop up these days and they are covers of stuff going back through the 80's 70's etc.... what does that tell us ?

Yep its the same old cover stuff being trotted out and yes always from 60s/70s/80s, I also think its the record companies being pretty shrewd, I remember Liberty X's gotta have your love, kids probably thought wow that is a great track cos they're not old enough to know about the original Mantronix track.
If one cover is not enough then it seems two are better, that geezer Richard X has not done one but two records now mixing a disco classic with a human league song, again probably preying on the naievity of the current single buying population. I think there is some creativity in there just too much copying going on!

I don't know what type of modern music you people are on about but I presume it is lowest common denominator chart rubbish.
There's lots of good music around today, you just have to know what it is.

Mantronix is still going, his song 77 Strings is brilliant, but unfortunitely they decided to bring a chart friendly version with lyrics on it, its dire now.
i mostly listen to hard trance, Hardhouse and House music by far de best

All mainstream radio is commercially driven sh1te controlled by the music industry. The music industry's purpose is not to provide good music, but to make as much money as possible. By this fact alone, the music industry is not going to be a source of good music.
You want good music, go to the underground. You have to find good music, not wait for it to be served to you on a plate.

Hello
Personally I prefer the stuff on the radio to the half drunk bum at the bottom of the escalator miming to something.

Hanoi Rocks never really went away. They have a TV show over here (cashing in on the Osbournes thing I guess) called The McCoys featuring Andy McCoy and his wife. You're not missing much

Stereophonics, Gomez, Evanescence (?), Linkin Park, and I hate to say this Oasis & Blur (what ever happended to them?) - IMO are / were pretty good. I also think Kosheen is pretty good too!
Rekka bosses can keep ****e like Gareth Gates, Will Young, Kelly Osbourne, Steps, Blue, One True Voice etc etc etc
Its all down to what the kids want - if they'll happily listen to some techno crap (not all of it mind) churned out at a rate of knots costing EMI, Sony etc peanuts then they'd be stupid not to cater for it

No, Hasselhoff is still a dwarf, he's just got a large following
The trouble with todays mainstream stuff is too much of it is overproducedby the same Fuller/Cowell/Waterman type clones.
BTW the current chart doesn't have a monopoly on dross, Bay City Rollers anyone?
