Perhaps a picture of said breaded product would help clarify what they are called in the different regions?
I suspect it's much like the roundabout / island thing which confused me when I first came up to the Midlands and suddenly roundabouts were "islands"....

Well, I'm in North Yorkshire, on it's own it would be a tea cake, add a sausage and or egg and or bacon and it becomes a buttie, anything else, especially barm is just fooking wrong![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
