I've got some holiday from work saved up and thought it might be worth while driving somewhere up north for fun and then spending the week on some kind of driving course, staying locally in a hotel or something.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what can be done, i've had performance cars for a while but would love to be able to drive properly, ie safer and be able to get the most out of my car on a track, and possibly get some kind of accreditation too to help with insurance?

AFAIK the IAM is the only thing insurers like. If you want something more fun and racing try this thread. Pricey, but looks very comprehensive with lots of track time and actual racing, plus a real qualification at the end. If you just want a fun day with learning I can recommend Rallydrive. Book midweek and ask for Howard and if there's 2 of you you'll get plenty of track time.

Have fun.

The Rally Drive looks like a decent day, ProDriver Plus course, bit of rallying and a bit of track

Now, for the other 4 days! Dont think i'll be able to fill these days with intensive driving without paying a lot of money me thinks!

I can't recommend Howard enough. The others I've tried are too worried about their tyres. If you're capable, Howard will let you do it. Full on 80mph sideways drifts and powerslides. Great fun

Just go out and nick someones car but make sure you get caught - that way you'll have months of all expenses paid driving courses courtesy of Mr Bliar
