Red face

Just been down to Comet, wanted to buy a nice 42" Plasma - got chatting about England Football and stuff ................. the salesman said that there have been strong reports, and warnings, that Plasma Screens can make you seasick if you watch Footie on them!!!!!

Was he pulling my Zimmer Frame??

Unless UR loaded and don't care, you can save a lot of cash by not shopping at Currys.
Check www.priceguideuk.com if you know which one U want

Also www.techtronics.com
www.nexnix.co.uk
www.cramptonandmoore.com

Also, worth waiting a few months as LCD is about to jump all over plasma on both price and performance. 40" sets are already there, but the next generation due soon will be superb. A couple more years and organic LED will kill them both dead.

Only problem with LCD is it doesn't have as big a viewing angle as a Plasma.

A Plasma screen can be viewed from an angle upto 160 degress and you can still see a clear picture.

LCD is way lower than that I believe

Current LCD screens arnt quick enough yet.

I bought a high end 19" tft screen for my PC, but i cant play games on it because it blurs on fast moving objects. gives me a headache

My friend has a pioneer plasma screen and there is very little when we play games. He hasnt said about seasickness, but he isnt much of a footie fan.
One thing to remember is that static text like the "sky one" you get on sky, burns on the screen if it's on there long enough

The latest gen plasma's have a process that removes the majority of it, the older generation plasma's dont...

have a look through a mag like "What tv" as they do good reviews.

I can't believe you listened to Comet advice!

They are usually one word behind you on the info card! My sister takes great pleasure and amusement my moving the about or standing in front of them when asking a question!

Dixon, Currys etc (all the same!) REALLY dont want to sell plasma screens - the amount of people I have heard of being talked out of buying one in the shop is unbelievable.

I've heard the 'they need re-gassing every year', the 'make you sick' the 'You HAVE to buy an ext warranty with these' - jeeesus - they should be done over by Trading Standards for the mis-information they spread....

there really starting to **** me off now....

Talking

Hi - been on holidays for 8 weeks!!

All tanned and ready to play!!

I 'may' look a bit like a Gold Wheel lover at the moment

Anyway, do Plasma screens make you seasick when watching footy?? I know I am watching comedy when I see Newcastle playing BUT what about the proper teams like Boro and such??

Why wouldn't they want to sell them then?
All I can think of is that it'll costs loads to fix/regass/whatever etc. and they'll have to pay up on their extended warranties and will end up losing shedloads???

Surprised about the problem of blurring on the 19" TFT screen. Ive got a 17" TFT and get no noticeable blurring at all. Thats with running the F1 racing programme.

If you're going to shop at Nexnix then give them a call and ask to speak to Dorian or Matt - say Chris from AXA recommended them. For the life of me I cant remember the gaffers name but he's a sound guy too.
