I thought this was bol10x, but after seeing juan's very last posting date I now believe anything possible with modern trickery. BTW Juan do you have any betting tips? ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

How many people, the homeless for example would risk what he is doing for £5 million?
ponce 5M off the lottery and start a competition for homeless people - who can survive the longest with no food (only special brew). winner takes £5M and all the rest die.

Anyone know?
The illusionsist David Blaine has performed a number of other illusions such as the ice block trick (and we should all by now know how he did that one) and the pole thing with the inbuilt sliding up seat thingy and the coffin trick (not read about this but know it's an illusion).
So how is the illusionist David Blaine doing his latest trick?
May I remind anyone who thinks that the illusionist David Blaine is acutally doing this feat for real, is that he's well known for , umm, err, well being an illusionist!

The ice block trick involved the illusionist David BLaine and a 'double' (who probably did most the night shifts when there were less people looking in at 4am etc.) and it involved a small hidden area underneath the ice block which had food, books, tv etc. and the two of them would alternate in shifts. That way, both could survive quite easily.
The swapping was done while the ice was being 're-frozen' with chemicals that re-froze and at the same time lot's of steam (like liquid nitrogen) would cloud the block and that's when the swap happened. The thickness and distorted view of the ice means that most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the illusionist David Blaine and someone else who looks a little like him.
Inside the ice block isn't actually that cold, think about eskimos!
So that's how the illusionist David Blaine perfomed it.
Anyway, I'm looking to find what the secret of his latest stunt is.
All credit to him, he thinks these things up and makes money out of it somehow so fair play to the guy.

Its funny how many people suggest it was faked. Yet even though the whole thing was recorded on video by many sources, plus the fact that Blaine himself has offered a million dollars to the person that proves it was faked, no one has yet been able to do this?

P1Fanatic - which trick are you refering to? The ice block trick has been proven andhow it was done is outlined above.
Even if he does come up with a trick that no-one can work out, that doesn't mean that the trick is 'real', it just means no-ones figures it out. Remember this guy is an illusionist/magician, and we all know there's no such thing as magic

Not sure about this one yet![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)
ALL these tricks have been shown on Sky1

This one ain't a trick, and it ain't that much of an endurance. OK, I wouldn't do it, but people have survived on hunger strikes for a lot longer...
I don't buy the "double" explanation of the Ice block. I've seen the suggested way he's supposed to have done it but the rig that they used was completely different to his setup. he could have actually done that too...

Don't think the playing a video in a loop business would have worked for that trick as there was loads of people watching it live in the street in New York!
He probably does do these tricks or whatever you want to call them but people don't know how he does it so they automatically say "oh his not doing that"![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
He is good though, some of the tricks he does in the streets when he walks up to different people are very good

How they explained it on Sky 1/Masked Magician was just a "it could have been done this way". It didnt actually prove it was done that way. Likewise I could suggest it was just a hologram or similar. I didnt see them backing this up with any video footage.

what he *actually* does on the street is "levitate" about 3 inches, but it is refilmed using actors to show him about 12" up....where he uses ropes etc to get extra lift.
To "levitate" 3 inches, stand at 135 degrees with your back to crowd. Raise foot wholly visible to crowd by 3". Lift other heel but leave toes of this foot on ground. As crowd can't see your toes, it looks like you are totally in air.
Try it, it works everytime.....people ARE convinced...

yeah there was a show that showed all his particular tricks like the levitation along with the ice one. why else was there a large black box under the ice?
He did indeed come out of the ice block at the end - he was in there, just not all the time - he switched with his accomplice sometimes and went under the block for a kip etc.
the one where he gets them to write the name of someone on a piece of paper then it appears on his arm! He asks them if they wrote it in capital letters or some such. then they say NO and he says ah you'll have to write it again then - he rips up the original but has folded it in a way that means the name is still complete so he can go away and mark his arm with charcoal.
then when they do it again and open their piece of paper - Shazaam!

Most of them rely on being on TV and like has been said some people are in on it etc.
I reckon he's in the box this time - but if he's drinking water he would have allowed it to be tested.
