My first car was a red Escort MK2 1.3L with chrome wheel trims
It had no power, the brakes never worked and I would pray that it would start each morning. Thing is, I still miss it to this day and would have another if I had a garage.
I think it was the rawness, the noise from the K&N filter and the sexy note from that Peco back box
Also the fact that it often seemed so fast. In the wet every corner was a challenge, trying not to understeer off the road.
In the dry the tyres would squeal like pigs if I tried to corner at more than 20mph, much to the embarrasment of any passengers.
I think what I miss was the driver involvement, and above all else it was FUN
No other car I have owned, including the Scoob was that much fun, though I am sure if I drove one now I would be shocked.

Hmmm. Perhaps it's just me then. Nostalgia maybe?
Do remember the annual MOT nightmare though. I would pace back and forth in the waiting room like an expectant father, only to be given a list with more red marks than my homework. Don't miss that at all

yep, mot time was a nightmare!
I spent more time down the scrappy getting 2nd hand pannels and straightening the bugger out after numerous "coming togethers" with my nutty mates on the back roads @ 2 in the morning.
When i sold it i dont think there was a straight or origonal panel on the thing
Oh what fun we had

I miss mine like mad, my first car was a 1972 Fiat 500, cute little car, with a 500cc twin aircooled motor, lots of fun, and cheap too, might even get one again, the trouble is, I bought my first one for £40, I'd have to pay nearer £4000 now!!
