Question

Any RC car racers on here who paint the bodyshells.

Just doing one at the moment and have got a couple of questions.

1. Can you put too many coats on ?

2. Should you still be able to see through the shell in bright sunlight (even with 3ish coats on)

Dave.

hi,

Firstly. if its a 10th scale body shell, then 1 can will be PLENTY !

If you are using a Mica blue for example, it will usually need backing with silver.

If you put too many or too thick coats on, it will flake under an impact. Thin coats, little persuasion with a hair dryer is ok.

If when held up to the sun it is a little translusive still, thats ok. If you are never gonna use the shell and its just for show, then you can use up the hole can for a deep 'shelf' finnish.

Good luck !

Keefa,

Thanks for the advice ... left it at the 3 and it looks fine. Especially with the film off ... it did start to slightly crack when I cut the shell so I think I just got it right.

Nigey,

get some work done m8.

Rally blue ... coz this is the real rally car r/c.. not some pretend on the road thing !!!!
