Whats the best Rally Driving Day

I did the Bill Gwynne Rally day in an Impreza some time ago. Very good tuition and they do a video run of your final drive, one camera on yer face the other out the front. Quite a long course on concrete/loose gravel with a 180 at each end ..all done with turn in/brakes...never did get it quite right!
Think we got 6 sessions of 4-5 circuits

It's my 40th birthday in December and I have promised myself a rally driving day before I sink into complete old gitdom ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Simple question, which is the best and why?
Ta in advance

No idea what is the best but did the 2 day course at Mr Higgins's (dad of the Higgins's winning the USA rally) place in Carno, wales. Very good day in Mk2 escorts on proper welsh stages (ie mud/gravel with trees 12" from the edge of the road). He is a bit dour as he wants to teach you to do it properly rather than just thrash about having fun though.
Enjoyed it.
About £400 for 2 days including B&B.
Could pull out more details if you want.

Bill Gwynne look good although not been myself. It looks pricey but they advertise on here so there might be discounts available.

Did one at Brands hatch in Escort Cosworths, it was an 'all day' course but it cost around £200, was excellent fun but was not much driving. (It consisted of 4 sessions of 10-15 mins for the whole day)

Went to Phil Price Rally School about 4 years ago. RWD fun, initially driving a Mk2 around a sort of figure of 8. Then later you get to drive a Sierra Cosworth on a longer stage with a guy giving you pace notes. They also take you on a stage at high speed, definitely eye opening ![Embarrassment](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/redface.gif)
Can't compare it to anything else. Good fun and maybe a bit cheaper than some others.

Forgot to mention my old mate Howard at Rallydrive . His circuit isn't brilliant but, if you book midweek and insist on Howard as your tutor you can go with just 2 in your party ensuring lots of driving. Unlike a few of the others I've been on (Tangerine, pah!) he will let you thrash the car within your abilities. Some of the others fret about their tyres too much.

i went to phil price's rally school in 2001, loads of sideways in a mk2 around a clay figure of 8, then around a forest stage in a rwd escort cosworth, luckily i was there courtesy of mitsubishi, so then i was taken around the stage flat out in a group n evo 6

I've also done the Phil Price day, and loved every minute of it.
You get several drives in the "gas-powered" Mk2 Escorts round a figure of 8 circuit, to practice getting it sideways etc. When I was there, the track was coated in mud that was tricky enough to stand up on, so made for amusing handling - many 360s were made!
You also get a drive round part of the main circuit (test track for several WRC teams - forest stage) in an Escort Cossie, and get taken on a couple of flying laps in Phil's own rally cars.
Plus there's a competition at the end of the day, where you do about 3 laps, and the winner gets a little trophy.
Top day out, not too dear, and the ride in his 450bhp Mk3 Escort was unforgettable!
Spent most of the circuit with my head pressed on the ceiling of the car. Fantastic!

Done Bill Gwynne's day more times than I care to remember (maybe I'll get it right one day). You spend a decent amount of time in the cars, get a good meal, and they are a great bunch.
Did offer to try to get a SN discount from them a while back, but there were insufficient replies.

Many thanks for your responses, the decision seems to be whether its worth the premium you pay for the Scooby experience or the cheaper 2wd cars. I went in a rally spec 206 a couple of years ago and was quite surprised by the performance, so maybe I'll go for the cheaper option for my first go.
