You wanna follow the signs from the concourse of Waterloo to Hungerford Bridge. Cross the river, to the other side, down the stairs and up the hill, Charing Cross is at the top. Easy!
fairly straight forward to walk though. walk south over the millenium bridge, cant miss it.

It's a nice walk. Better than the Tube. Across the river on the brand new shiney Hungerford Bridge past the London Eye. Takes about 10mins.
Watch out for the Illegal immigrant beggars though.
