I'm off to guernsey & alderney tomorrow morning for 10 days diving.
I need advice regarding mobile phones.
I am on O2 200, getting free calls and text in the uk. i also have international roaming & ITS. when i phoned CPW to enquire about call costs etc, they couldnt find guernsey under their international list. So in the end i actually got prices for france and was quite shocked at how much it was (56p a min out -28p a min inc & 25p a text
).
Anyone on here living in guernsey or has been and has an O2 (or any UK tariff) mobile, could you please help me out where CPW failed.
Otherwise im gonna be a tight 4rse and just turn the blooming thing off for 10 days.
Cheers
chris

I'm a virgin user
and travel to Guernsey a lot.
I'm always shocked at how expensive the darn thing is; just like international calls (even though you don't do the +44 thingy) incoming calls are charged for and outgoing are more expensive than usual.
My txt msgs are free to receive normally; whilst in guernsey they're something like 25p each. Can't remember how much they are to send.
All in all, use it as little as possible, if you can.

I have spent alot of time in Guernsey for work. I have a company Vodafone and the first month i was shocked to say the least with a 270 quid bill, majority of which was in Guernsey.
It has a mainland looking phone code (01481 or summat like that) but you will get royally stung especially if you ring another mainland mobile on the island !!

My parents live on Guernsey, and yes, I'm afraid its true - mobile roaming is pricey, and there is a blanket 35mph speed limit all over the island!
Still, you have to give it some up the Val des Terres up the hill out of St Peter Port, its used a few times a year as a hill climb!![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
p.s. the mobile operator there is GSY-TEL (Guernsey Telecom)

thanks all
got back this afternoon, didnt get to guernsey in the end. The skipper of our landing craft crashed into the jetty :rolleyes so we had to stay in Alderney and came back when it wasn't so rough.
Strange place, very windy, lots of pubs though![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
