Just
Been done for driving at 36mph on a 30mph road that used to 40mph The road was long and straight and no houses on one side of the road and no turnings on the other side, weather was sunny and the road was quiet,I have have had a clean licence for 26 years and this is justice,But then again I suppose it will look good on the crime figures etc and put a bit of money in the pot to buy more laser guns etc and i must admit i do feel like a bit of a criminal now,but the only difference is I got caught. Just be careful lads when your out trying to enjoy yourselve or worse trying to do your job

bartmanuk, you seem like the kind of guy I'd prefer to see standing in that 'couple of feet' with a ton and half of steel coming down on you.. better than someone's kid..
If you can't do the time don't do the crime.. whinge whinge whinge..
You see that pedal under your foot? That controls your speed. It is under your control.. you make the decisions.. take the responsibility..

Alpine99 is absolutely right, never exceed 30 mph, this is nicely backed up by a quote from the "Arrive Deprived" site
This is a nice safe speed. If you drive at 30 mph all the time you will never die or hurt anybody else. Independent tests conducted by Arrive Deprived prove that even very small children harmlessly bounce off vehicles travelling at this speed.

I got a ticket in torquay for 36mph in a 30mph as i was overtaking a bint doing 18mph up a hill...got the fine in less than the postal time. What can you do??? I bet this goes on all over the country - i think the government love law abiding citizens..Only points i have ever had in 18yrs of driving. Stuff the government - and i do any chance i get...

Don't worry it is all about the money once every body has learnt the new limit and they are not making any money they will drop the limit again and catch every one again.
You see it all the time where the Police/Council get the money they lower limits that have been set for 30 years and nothing on the road has changed and a few weeks later the tax collection camera arrives. funny enough the justification frequently used for not raising the limits is its been ok for 30 years don't change it but that never appplies where their is a few pieces of Silver in it for the Police

the limit is 30.. everyone knows that.. 31 is speeding.. it's not unlucky if you get caught at any speed over 30.. it's not driving with due care and attention..
I admit to not always keeping to the speed limit, but if I was caught I wouldn't be on here bleating about how unlucky I was. The problem with society is too many people who think they are allowed to pick and choose the laws which apply to them and if they fall fowl decide to just bleat about it.
If you were caught at 36 chances are your speedo said 40 so by that estimate you thought you were a third over the limit.
As for being a plonker.. I may be but you clearly are.. a55hole

Alpine
I think your missing the point,i was driving with due care and attention and I think 26 years of driving experience shows that, just because someone drifts over the speed limit by a few miles an hour doesn't make them dangerous and on a long straight road there is sections that it near impossible to keep to thirty and suprise suprise thats where the cameras are,i just hope it donsn't happen to you and then you may think a bit differently, and I think it may enlighten you to read other threads on this subject and you may fall in with the rest of us...
