no chance mate, unless you are moving with your existing company who has a US office or marrying a yank forget it
unlike the UK the yanks don't let every tom dick or harry in
Best off flipping burgers in maccy d's as this is the closest to working in the US your gonna get

Try Canada! no, seriously! I'm told it is a littler easier to get into Canada than the USA.
As for working in the USA, well, our company has a US office, and we did try and get most of our staff work permits but US immigration would have none of it, think they were narked off that about 6 of us would be working in the US, think they hated the idea that 6 jobs were being 'stolen' from US workers, even though the fact is that our skill sets are very focused and I'll be buggered if you could find a US worker, off the bat, who has exaxtly the same level of knowledge that I do (we code, support and market our own Apple macintosh secuirty software, so it's a bit of a niche to say the least). So, the USA was a no go.
We have a Canadian office, based in Toronto and no problem at all getting in, basically had a letter from a Canadain immigration lawyer, and letter of employment from my boss, turned up at Pearson Intl airport, went to immigration desk, 45 mins later I had a work visa! easy as that.
Ok, so I am part of an inter company transfer, which makes it a lot easier, but i think from what I have heard Canada is a better bet.

My Wife and I were told they'd take both of us. She's a Primary School Teacher and I'm a College Lecturer. The USA hold our education system in high regard. We decided not to go however.
