Anyone heard of First Class Communications?

Mt gf's mother has just had a call from them asking her if she'd like to register her company name domain as they (FCC) have been approached by a company operating in the same area, doing the same thing with the same name asking for the same domain name!!!
Thing is they are offering the .co.uk domain name for 10 years but at a cost at c.£500. 123reg can do it for £0.99p per year!
I have said I'm 99.9% sure its dodgey and a dodgey (if not illegal) marketing practice.
Your opinions or first hand knowledge appreciated!

Had the same thing, I had <company name>co.uk and got a call saying someone wanted the same name with .com and did I want to buy it for x amount.
Politely said no and then quickly went and registered it!
Wouldnt say dodgy, just very enterprising!!!
