Unhappy

Hi

Hoping someone here will be able to shed some light on this problem.

I have a Sony DAVS 550 amp / dvd player which I'm connecting to my Philips 28" TV via a Monster Cable SVideo lead, problem is no picture

I've been right through each manual (Sony and Philips) several times and according to those the TV should sense the SVideo feed and use it but still I have a blank screen. There is no manual switching on either TV or amp, apart from setting the TV's input to EXT2 SVHS....

Anyone offer any help?

cheers

Neil

is the amp set to 'dvd'? My setup is slightly different, tv connected to dennon amp, and dvd connected to amp. I had black screen and could not work out why until I realised it might help if I switched the amp to dvd mode, and put the tv to the correct input too. so you might want to switch tv to one of the external inputs as well.

are you using ext2? it may not be set to transmit svideo,i had the same problem.I use EXT1 to make use of RGB for Sky,and i use Svideo on ext2 for DVD,which was blank until i set it correctly using the tv menu

look for the section called EXT settings

i think!

Talking

sorted it now cheers - there is no menu for it in the DAVS550 though. Ended up taking it back and buying a separate SVideo lead and svideo to scart adaptor and all works fine -can only assume from this that the original Monster Cables pinouts werent correct - odd though...!
