1 to say there ancient ugly Japanese lightbulb is considerably brighter than any other, then explain the (psuedo) science behind the claims and also to post photoshopped pictures of the bulb in question, this is interspersed with homphobic rants and stern warnings from the mods/webmaster before the individual is banished for good.....

And another dozen to say this should be in DIY, unless it's Subaru lightbulb, in which case another 18 posts to discuss which section it should be in. Especially if some are for sale or not insured or in a computer...... Time for a beer I think

In the future, when LED lamps become the norm, light bulb jokes will be extinct, cos the former can last and last and people will not remember having to or how to change one in the first place.

OTOH I have an LED printer with 600 LEDs per inch on about 9 inches of page width. That's a lot of LEDs!

Carl, below is an advertising pitch on LEDs from one of the supplier:
LED life expectancy is based on current and temperature. You can expect our LEDS to last approximately 100,000 hours at 20 ma with ambient temperature of 20° C.
Depending on usage, that's almost an entire life time = 54+ years @ 5 hours a day.
However, there are LEDs and LEDs, and cars are notorious for current surge, e.g. bulbs burning out regularly on Scoobysport driving lights.
