I must admit I never bothered with the camera on the original version, as I was always worried about breaking it off/losing it.
The new version now supports multiple email accounts too.

I've had my original SPV virtually a year now, but I want one of these new ones - how do I stand with Orange on getting a handset upgrade?
Do you get a free upgrade every year?
Anyone know?
Orange Contract, talk 60,GPRS, Orange care etc etc......
Or should I 'accidently' throw it down the stairs......

arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!! I've only had mine since July. I've lost the camera.
Can I upgrade to the new one (don't mind paying £100 or something) without p'ing about with the contract???

I think you had to have a 12 month contract on the original SPV and its about a year ago. You can ring Orange customer services and they will let you know the expiry date.
If you lose or damage the phone, they will replace it with exactly what you had before.
My SPV has been the most reliable phone I've owned, but I have broken two by dropping them badly. As usual, Orange's replacement service has been first class, even delivering a replacement on a Sunday morning.
Jay, since you set it up, she hasn't used it once

My friend had the original SPV and when it accidentally fell out of a moving car they replaced it with an E100. They didn't give him the cradle or camera though, which mean he had to slightly cut his old cradle to get it to fit properly.
Mine's been great since I turned off the application lock, got lots of goodies![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I dropped one of mine and made a claim.
Him "How was it damaged?"
Me "I dropped it"
Him "How did you drop it?"
Me "Are you serious?"
Him "Yes Sir, please explain how you dropped it"
Me "A momentary reduction gripping pressure proved insufficient to resist the force of gravity"
Him "So it fell out of your hand?"
Me "Yes... I dropped it"
Him "Where did you drop it?"
Me "On the pavement"
Him "Where abouts?"
Me "Apprximately 0.73 metres from the kerb" (I'm getting bored now)
Him "OK, what was the road called?"
Me "Vicarage Lane"
Him "Where abouts in Vicarage Lane did it happen?"
Me "Are you taking the ****?"
Him "No Sir"
Me "242m from the White Horse pub"
Him "Are you certain of that distance?"
Me "No"
Him "Then why say it?"
Me "Because it doesn't really matter does it? If it was 242m or 542m, it doesn't really change the fact that I dropped my phone and you will be sending me another one"
Him "Well it does Sir, I must have the facts"
Me "Better make it 245m then, just to be safe"
Now I kind of knew this one would be coming...
Him "Which direction were you walking in?"
Me "I didn't say I was walking, but as it happens I was. I was walking in a heading of South South West"
And here's what he was building up to...
Him "Is that towards the pub or away from it?"
Me "Towards it"
Him "How could the damage have been avoided?"
Me "By covering the pavements of Chelmsford in some sort of soft, padded material"
At that point he gave up and asked where I would like the phone sent

Unless you have a very high monthly spend on orange,, the upgrade fee will be about £120 + the cost of the new handset....
orange along with most of the other providers dont give a rats about customer loyalty... unless you want to haggle...
the orange shop actually advised me when i got my last spv to take out a new contract as it would be cheaper than an upgrade...
role on january and i can get rid of my spv,,, too slow and to bloody niggley..

you can upgrade any time with your orange contract, although as you sign for a year, you will have to pay the up grade fee, which is 150 is the contract is less than 6 months old, and 75 is the contract is over 6 months old,
unless you are a high user, then they will normally wave the upgrade fee!
and once you have upgraded, you get to keep your phone, so sell o
it, you should get about 100 quid for your old spv, so that pays off the upgrade fee!

I'd best drop mine first so that i get a nice new one to sell on - current one is scratched etc.
Don't mind paying the fee to upgrade - just so long as I don't have to wait the full term of the contract![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

You got to hand it to the operator on the other end of the Phone for being so efficient and so so serious![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I think if it would have been me I would of gone along the lines of this to the *** half on the phone” I have informed the serious Crime squad and the local accident investigator is coming out and mark the area up for evidence and Crowthorne Transport and Road research laboratory are attending to check to see if the pavement is of the right type of surface in order to drop things on so that I can process the claim with a bit less hassle"
