Typical British Police

it happened to makinnen a few years ago when he spanked that concrete block, remember. A motorbike cop i think it was.
i recall a cop car towing another wrc last year or the year before also.
good to see how well us brits support the rally and give us a good name.
ok so his car was in a bad state but surely a kind gesture such as a police escort would have been better for all..
i cant beleive the happenings of this first day of the GB rally, all the contenders have gone out, markko, sainz and then Citreon are restricting Loeb to go flat out just when it looked like him and Petter were gonna go to the wire!!!

This happened to Tommy M a few years back. Basically he only had the hub left on the rear drivers side and the cars were on their way to pits and the next stage under escort. Police said NO and Tommy lost the champion ship.
Edited ti say I had not seen the other post regarding Tommy. Sjould learn to read the whole thread befor posting in the future

GM- are you a policeman? Only a road traffic pig would see it from that side of view
mrkLAW- you must be a policeman too 'why do that not flatbed them to the next stage' because thats part of rallying thats why the cars are road legal, cos its the sport
Get lives boys! mind you, i see your point! Its easy money targeting motorists

They would'nt let Gronholm drive the road section because one of his wheels was'nt quite straight
Probaly had another force around the next corner with a speed gun to catch the drivers and joe public for speeding

90° toe out, I can't see the problem?
I was hurling abuse at the TV for all I was worth, bloody jobs worth tosser, any where else on the globe and they'd have their lights on clearing folk out of the way to make sure he got back to service!

It was on the Rally C4 coverage. Gronholm is limping back to service with his front wheel half broken off, and Mr Jobworth copper tries to prevent him from driving it.
Gronholm , of course, was having none of it

I agree, they could have given him an police escort back to service.
Remember a couple of years ago, (I can't!) Marlboro sponsered car driving down the road minus one front wheel, sparks flying....?

You or I wouldn't expect to be allowed to drive a car that was as badly damaged on the road so why should Gronholm? Rallying gets a hard enough time on the PR front these days without rallycars being driven around on the public road in that kind of state. Can you imagine the tabloid headlines if he'd had a road accident on his way to service?
Sorry to disagree with everyone else here but the copper made the right call.

Loeb is in two minds to drive fast to win driver title or slow down to get championship points
it was hilarious when Solberg was questioned
"What do u think about Loeb being told to slow down"
Solberg: "thats bull sh<beep>!!!

Its no great surprise anyhow. There were probably several break-ins, car jackings, muggings and murders going on at the time. But its so good to see that when it comes to enforcing the law on the road the British police always seem to have it in hand.
“How dare you drive with a wonky wheel” come on, there are many more important activities that they should be policing…Like someone doing 35 mph in a 30 zone…....
That’s my penny’s worth..

I would say Gronholm with his front nearside pointing at the curb would have still maintained better control of his car than the average numpty car owner that we all know & love.
Still thats one less to worry about.

WAS IT YOU?!
Parked on the hard shoulder in Wales, when some to$$er in a peugeot had his wheel came off and broadsided me. Chipsaway is gonna have a hard time sorting this one :<
No?
Then thank the nice Policeman.
Don't know why the rally cars have to drive themselves between stages anyway, should be allowed to be towed/put on a flatbed. Its not a competitive stage, and they should be kept away from the public.

Wasn't sure, just a question.
So if they have to be road legal, then surely then need all four wheels pointing the same way?
I agree its all a bit **** to have to drop out this way, just that it seems unfair to single out the policman.

Thats my point!
Only in this country the Rsul police have to act this way! Like i said ' its easy money to target motorists other than sort out some real crime (bit more dangerous and too much paperwork i suppose )
Don't get me wrong, I believe the police sometimes do a great job, and i am not against them! But they target motorist for petty crimes i'm not saying that we should drive like c.unts but there's petty and there's petty! like i said ' only in this country'

Why not just lend him the spare wheel out the Police car?
Surely that was the easiest way around the problem; of course the Police would get the wheel back & Gronholm could have carried on.....
OK so it may not have fitted.......
