Whenever I have seen a mobile van my Snooper S6R Neo has stayed silent! I have the radar / laser detector option fitted and it pick up nothing from these.
So if you have a laser diffuser would it work against these terrible mobile vans. Passed one yesterday, on the Bridge over the M40 near J3, SILENCE from Snooper!!!!

I believe they use an IR laser so you're detector may not pick up the frequency.

No as it is Infra-Red. IIRC I am sure that a new breed of jammer is available from Networx Automotive, but don't quote me!

There's a few types: Laser, IR, and ones that work on speed strips hidden in the road (DS2)

More info HERE

No joking now. I work for a company that designs and make speed cameras and the IR lasers dont work on black cars.

I thought they pointed at the back of the car as you go past, therefore a detector wouldn't pick it up.

Intriguing if it were true. Anyway, I thought that the laser was normally aimed at the number plate.

No. Plate is too small for a target area in real world. The whole of the front (or rear) is lined up 'in the zone'

Hmm. If you really want a car thats imune to all this speed trap camera, just paint it black, get rid of all right angles and make sure your car does not emit much heat from the exhaust and engine. It works for planes and boats..

If you want to do it properly, find about £100k for some corrupt US Air Force employee and use pukka Stealth paint.

I think I'll keep the speed down to the limit, drink & drive, take drugs whilst driving, have no tax etc, I'll be pretty safe from the Police then.
BUT HOW DO THESE MOBILE CAMERAS WORK ????????
Please someone!

The laser (s)cameras send out a number of pulses of IR laser light, at regular intervals. As the target's/victim's car moves, the distance to/from the camera changes. Therefore the time for each pulse to travel to/from the car varies. The camera counts the pulses out and in, and times each out/in path. Knowing those times, it can deduce how fast the target is moving.

If you ask the manufacturers, they're garage door openers.

However - yes, they coincidentally interfere with Police laser (s)cameras.
