I've just returned home from Jessops with a new 300D, or so I thought.
After taking the first picture and viewing it, it turned out to be the 2790th one the camera had taken!!! In the top right hand corner the counter displayed the following: 227 2790.
Can someone confirm that I am correct in saying that the second number is the number of shots taken?
Thanks,
Dan

Strange... if it's anything like my D30, that means it's actually the 22,790th frame! It would seem that the counter hasn't been reset in the factory. Was your CF card blank or did it already have something on it?
Personally I wouldn't think any more of it, provided the camera looks and feels new and it works OK. Why risk taking it back and swapping it for one which might have dead pixels on the LCD or worse?

Same with my D60, the second 2 digits of the first number seem to overlap with the first 2 of the second number.
I'd agree with Andy that it seems to be more like a missing factory reset - that would be some serious shooting in the couple of months that the 300D has been available.
As long as you got it for a good price, I'd probably just keep it. However, it you paid more than about £730 then you should demand a refund and get it from somewhere else![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
