Anyone else own treadmills, exercise bike etc? I've looked at the price of gym membership for a year and this seems like a better idea in some ways. Although it might just end up in the garage gathering dust
What do people think, fork out for gym, exercise bike, or just get fat?

LA Fitness charge £25pm I think for silver membership - I pay £10 or £15 subsidised but it makes me use it when I see my bank statement!

Yup, home equipment just wastes space, seeing £xx pounds leaving your account each month is much more of an incentive, and then once you are at the gym you tend to push yourself harder surrounded by like minded people.
If I really wanted something at home I'd have a Concept II rower though...best single piece of equipment on the market IMO

As for you getting fat, I don't think so, so much as open the front door and you get knocked over by slight breeze ur so slim

B2Z - what are you after?!
Edited to say:
And BTW dont ever stop a slim bird going to the gym - it means she will stay slimmer longer*, watch out for birds with lifejacket potential and avoid like the plague
(* and it gives me something to oggle when I'm there)

Yup get down the gym, I have weights etc at home that get a serious amount of use, but for cardio work there is no better place then the gym itself.... its great to be pumping away on the exercise bike for an hour while being mesmerized by a nice set of bouncing t*ts on the running machine opposite Takes your mind off the pain in yer legs

I have a York multigym thing that I have NEVER used, it's basically an impractical shelving unit in my spare room
Mind you, I also have Fitness First membership @ £35 a month and I never use that, either

Yeah, don't wate your money. A decent treadmill will set you back at least £1000. You could have a years membership at a local gym for that money.
If you want to run, best get your trainers on and head for a local park. Get friends and family involved and you can motivate each other to keep it going. Or even join a local running club. Clubs always have mixed abilities and they'll be folk who are just starting out too. Garages the country over are full of unused multi-gyms, treadmills and exercise bikes.
I went for an hours run last night and the thought of a treadmill in a nice warm room did appeal. It was absolutely pi$$ing it down and I was running through mud past my ankles, but there's something deeply satisfying about it. I was like a kid with a new pair of wellies
As Bill Connolly said, there's no such thing as the wrong weather; just the wrong clothes

I used to go to a gym in West Sussex when i lived there and it cost £22.50 a month for use of ALL facilities, all classes etc. I looked at gyms like Esporta and LA Fitness when i moved and they want joining fees, £37p/m and no cancelling for 1 year
I had it made with the last place i was at

Going to a gym does get you into the right frame of mind for exercise as well, which couldn't be said about a rowing machine in the garage, & watching other people tends to make you want to do more, which is certainly a good thing.
I'd say the gym was better value ultimately, as you could never buy the number of things they have in the average gym for you house. You could, but you'd be skint, & have no space.
