There used to be a place on Mill Street East / West in Dewsbury (virtually opp. Carlton Cards) that made up leather items - I once had a jacket made there to my design "tweaks" and it was OK. Dunno whether the company is still going or not.
As for checking whether something is real or fake leather, I was told to check it with a flame e.g. from a *** lighter - if it's real it won't burn / melt... - do this at your own peril in a shop / at a market - usual disclaimers etc![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Have a look on ebay.
You can get virtually anything on there and clothing generally sells at 30%-50% of shop prices.
I sell clothing on there and the price my stuff goes for is generally less than 50% of shop prices.

most of the leather goods you will see on markets and most shops are imported from india, china, korea and taiwan.
as for checking im affraid that imitations are so good that unless you work every day with leather you wont be able to see the difference (on good imitations). Legally, if they have real leather logoed on them, they have to be real leather, same with made in england!

Asking market traders is a good ploy, only problem is if they decide to tell porkies.
At the end of the day the only way to make a purchase like this is to find the jacket you like, make sure the price is right by you, if your happy with the jacket, buy it.
