don't have a phone glued to their ear in the car??
I really think the law is working - haven't seen a single thicko yet!
Have you?
I have a theory - EVERYONE knew it made you look like a dick, but they carried on because 'everyone' else was doing it ..... now, all of a sudden you can say its illegal and be relieved that you don't have to answer the phone .... am I close?

It's made no difference here.
I've just driven from N London into the city and I saw countless people nattering away whilst pulling out on me

I saw one idiot driving a Discovery run a red light while holding a mobile to his ear and reading form an A to Z. I deicide to follow him and knocked on his window when he eventually stopped at a set of lights. When he rolled down his window I snatched his phone and turned it off before throwing it past him onto his passenger seat. His face was a picture.

I think you should be able to use your phone in the car, depending on how you drive whilst using it. Some people can drive on the phone, others just can't cope and become a danger.
If you want to ban mobiles because they cause a distraction then surely we should not be allowed stereo's, the amount of near misses I've had whilst trying to sort out the tunes! What about smoking??? Takes one of your hands up and if you talk to the person next you then it would appear to be the same challenge as using your phone? I'd go as far as saying it is more dangerous, ever dropped a ciggie or the cherry in your car?!!? Smoke in your eyes etc. Long time ago a friend of mine had the nicest example of a GT Turbo left in existence, it was silver and had 7K miles back in 93/94 and was lovely, he owned it for two days and was heading off to college, attempted to spark up a ciggie with matches and before he could look up it was smashed up into the car in front. Kids in the car arguing or how about chicks doing there make up, people reading maps or directions etc etc...
Phones are not the problem.

Yes Georgie girl I sure did. I am well known locally for not tolerating ar*eholes, and even before the mobile law my biggest bugbear was ar*eholes who drove while using mobile phones. The guy in the Discovery is not the first person I`ve made my views obvious to and I doubt he will be the last.
Yeah sure you did

People driving badly with a phone in hand is a problem. But surely if someone drives perfectly and use the phone it should be ok?
Just another blanket law to please the sheep - does not address the problem and will not cause anything to change.

If anything I think banning the use of mobiles has made the roads less safe, people will now have yet another distraction while they are using their phones when driving - keeping an eye out for coppers

Very good David Lock - haven't seen you around for ages my man!! Everything ok?
Back on topic .... I have noticed a drastic reduction!! Its dead easy now to yell at them to get off the frigging phone!! should see their faces!
People who continue to have phones glued to their ears are complete and utter wasters!!

As usual I disagree but I'll not try and argue my point with you old man, I care not for your opinions and I'd love to see you yell at me to get off my phone, you'd be ****ting your own teeth for a week.

People need to waste their time worrying about more important stuff than whether some loser wants to talk on their mobile telephone or not. Another example of the nanny state IMHO.
I mean for sure they are tw*ts for doing it but there are far worse things to be stopping. Next there will be a law banning driver/passenger conversations.
BTW I don't drink (anything alcohol or otherwise), smoke or use a mobile when driving and never have, call me old fashioned but I like to concentrate on actually driving, strange I know but hey I don't wave to other people driving Imprezas for the same reason.

Pete I'm fine thanks. Funny all this phone business as I had a hands free job installed years ago - phone fitted in middle arm rest. In fact I find if I used this whilst driving it really would be dangerous trying to fiddle with the buttons and having to take my eye off the road. Much easier and safer IMHO just using a standard mobile. I don't use it a lot and if I get into traffic I simply say hold on for a while or I'll get back to you. This seems reasonably sensible but now illegal although battling with my hands free is legal - if I understand the law correctly? DL
PS. Trying to reset the radio/tape etc after the kids have changed all the settings is far more dangerous and distracting than pressing one button on a mobile.

Cough, bull*hit, cough. How did you manage this if your occupation is disabled??? Or is that more manure?

I still use my phone with it "stuck to my ear" Its all crap! How is it you can smoke but not use a phone? Sod it, I'm one of those people who has had enough of all the f**k**g laws and rules. I'll take whatever they give me as a fine. They can add it to the millions in speeding fines.
