Reinhard Heydrich, one of Adolf Hitler's pet Aryan gods and Gauleiter of conquered Czechslovakia, was assassinated by Czech underground fighters in 1941. The only people who really profited from it were the moderates in German Intelligence, Admiral Canaris and Walter Schellenberg, who had definitely been feeling the chill warning wind of Heydrich's ruthless mind. The assassins were hunted down and killed one by one and the bereaved dictator ordered the full anger of the SS turned loose throughout Czechoslovakia
